Friars Gate Archers held their annual BLBS two way Western shoot on Sunday 29th April at Buxted Park. Forty longbows took to the field at 2.00pm on a warm and sunny afternoonthough from the start there were concerns and due cursing given the tricky gusting wind, (and that was just the ladies!)
Shooting continued apace with the first four dozen passing quickly, moneyed golds were duly elusive with the centre crosses all intact. A welcome comfort break followed with tales of more misses and more about that wind. Ian Martin the venerable Field Captain summoned archers back to the frey to continue the second half.
After a further four dozen everyone was ready for afternnon tea and cake. The second half saw few moneyed golds and no one managed to hit the elusive centre cross.
Ian presided over the prise giving. Julia Madelin was first Lady with Mary Cruikshank in second place followed by Margaret Bunyard. For the Gentlemen first place went to Russel French, with Ron Smith second and Bill Linton third. For full results click on the link:
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the occasion and will no doubt return next year.
