FGA sweeps the board

As some of you will no doubt remember this year FGA decided to enter the inaugural Glade 70M outdoor league,. This enabled us to enter as many archers as possible and each archer had to shoot 6 rounds before the 15th October. Over the months since we started, fevered groups of archers gathered at Buxted Park to haul the big square target to the little used 70m mark somewhere near the far end of the cricket square and hushed muttering about the difference between 70M and 80 yds could be heard regularly. Despite some predictions nobody actually caught fire or exploded because a metric distance was shot, although there was one Thursday afternoon when Jim and I shot where I'm pretty sure the rain and wind met biblical levels. Also for the compounds life became slightly clearer once we had worked out what constituted a ten on a FITA 70m!!!!!

The advantage of the Glade League was that the Glade themselves sorted the mass of our archers into teams depending on our scores so all we (well Derrick actually) had to do was enter the scores in via the internet. With the league now finished the results have been published and all sorts of stats can be found by following this link http://thegladeleague.com/results_1.php?results=team

In total FGA entered scores for 19 archers but only 8 managed to shoot the full 6 rounds each and these were: Arthur, Keith, Jim, Me, Derrick, Jeff, Justin H and Dave. Andrew came very close shooting 5 scores and I believe the weather beat him in his sixth round.

In total there were 24 teams entered across the UK and the World and I am pleased to announce that FGA came 1st, 3rd, 8th, 15th, 18th and 24th. With Arthur, Keith and Jim making up our winning team, Myself, Derrick and Andrew making up the team that came third and Jeff, Justin H and Dave making up the team that came 8th. Well done all.

As well as a team event there were two individual rankings of highest single score and highest aggregate score. In the single score our highest three archers were Andrew who came 11th, Arthur who came 28th and Keith who came 37th. This was out of a total of 295. This I believe is very impressive. In the individual aggregated scores there were a total of 81 archers; Arthur came second, Keith came 4th, Jim came 8th, I came 12th, Derrick came 14th, Andrew came 16th and Jeff came 20th. I must also mention Justin Phillips who came first but shoots with us indoors as an associate member.

I must stress that there are many different ways to cut the stats and if you follow the link above you can be a stato to your hearts content. The Glade will be sending out the certificates soon and once I have them I will pass them on. The committee discuss this competition and we agreed we would enter again next year - as we know now to defend our crown.
